Privacy. Your words stay in your browser.
FontForThat renders and measures the words you enter on your device. We do not save that preview text, include it in page addresses or send it as an analytics event. This page explains the other requests and choices involved in using the site.
Preview text and tool choices.
The “Your words” field changes specimens in the current browser. Text-width calculations also run there. The preview text is not put into a URL, cookie, local storage or the site’s event properties. Preview inputs and the resulting text are excluded from session replay capture.
A selected font, brand, comparison or intended use can be represented by the site’s own identifier in a shareable address, such as a font or use parameter. Those identifiers are different from the words you type. The page address can therefore be present in browser history, hosting logs and analytics when the relevant feature is enabled.
There is no account, sign-in or payment flow on FontForThat. The site does not request a name, billing address or payment details to use its font tools.
Cookies and your analytics choice.
Analytics use PostHog only when it has been configured for this site. Without it, the analytics library and consent banner are not loaded. When it is enabled, the site is configured for cookieless page measurement before a choice and after “No thanks”. Custom font and tool events wait until you choose “Allow”.
Allowing analytics lets PostHog use its normal browser identifiers and record visits, performance and the actions explicitly measured by FontForThat. PostHog stores the consent choice in local storage. The footer’s “Cookie settings” control reopens the choice so you can change it.
The site does not identify you with an account or pass an email address to analytics. Cookieless measurement still involves network requests and technical connection information; it is not a claim that no data is processed. A browser or content blocker may prevent those requests.
Optional analytics are not enabled on this version of the site.
What optional analytics measure.
After consent, site events can record a font-source link being opened, an alternative result being chosen, or a licence check being completed. The event properties contain our catalogue identifiers, result counts and licence outcomes. General outbound links marked for measurement include their destination address.
Session replay may also operate after consent when enabled in the PostHog project. It can show page interactions and layout; visitor-entered preview text and specimens are marked to be excluded. Automatic click capture and heatmaps are disabled in this site’s configuration.
Withdrawing permission stops future consent-gated events. It does not itself erase information already received. The browser’s privacy controls can also clear local site data; clearing a consent choice means the site may ask you again on a later visit.
Hosting and external font requests.
Loading a web page sends technical request information, including an IP address, browser headers and requested address, to the service hosting it. Delivery and security logs are separate from the optional analytics choice.
Font previews can request font stylesheets and files from Google Fonts, jsDelivr or the font’s published source. Those providers receive the technical information needed to answer the request. The preview words are rendered locally; we do not add them to a font request. The fixed “Ag” specimens on some lists use those same two letters for every visitor.
Following a source link leaves FontForThat. The destination’s privacy practices apply there. The ordinary interface fonts are served with the site; the specimen providers used by a page depend on which free fonts it displays.

FontForThat currently publishes no email address and offers no form that uploads a message. No name or email address is required to use the font tools. A public contact channel is not yet available.
If a correspondence feature is introduced, its handling of the information you choose to send will be described here. Do not enter confidential material into a shared page address or a font-source link.
This page is updated when the site’s handling changes. The date above records the content revision. Provider documentation linked below explains their own services and should be read alongside this description.
