FontForThat provides font comparisons, selections and licence summaries for information. You obtain a font from its source and use it under that font’s own terms. The website does not grant additional rights in fonts, brand lettering or trademarks.
What the tools provide.
Similarity scores describe the laboratory’s tested renderings. A task selection expresses a rule-based recommendation, and a brand page describes a lettering style. These results are not a guarantee of identical appearance, exact line wrapping, suitability for every project or the availability of a particular font release.
Preview rendering depends on the browser, the font file and available character coverage. A comparison with an original font installed on your device uses that local installation. Its presence does not mean that FontForThat supplies the file or grants you a licence for it.
The font’s licence governs your use.
Our yes, no and conditional licence results summarise the recorded licence for a defined use. They are not legal advice, a legal opinion about your circumstances or a substitute for the actual licence. Read the source linked beside the result and verify the version you download.
Embedding or redistributing a font file can have requirements separate from using a design made with it. A font’s permission does not settle rights in an existing logo, a brand name, a character or other material used in your work. The relevant rights holder decides questions outside the font licence.
Source links and ownership.
The free font links take you to external font services, projects or foundries. Availability, downloads, support and licence changes at those destinations are controlled by their operators. The source’s current terms apply when you use their service.
Typeface names and brand names belong to their respective owners. They are used to identify the subject of an independent comparison. FontForThat is not affiliated with or endorsed by those owners. Free style selections are not presented as the original brand lettering.
The licence of the website’s software is separate from the licences of the fonts and other third-party material. A permission concerning one does not automatically extend to the others.
Use the site and its answers responsibly.
Use the tools for lawful work and respect the terms of the font sources. Do not attempt to disrupt the site, bypass access controls, introduce harmful material or obtain paid font files from a comparison page. FontForThat does not host those files.
We aim to keep the information useful and checkable, but data, software and external services can be incomplete, outdated or temporarily unavailable. Review the result in the context of your own project before relying on it. The methodology explains the evidence and its limits.
Corrections and changes.
An apparent error should be checked against the cited source, the font version and the measurement method. A useful correction record identifies the page, the disputed result and the evidence for a different answer. A public contact channel is not yet available.
